CONSTRUCTION OF ZAKHENI PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE
The Zakheni Pedestrian Bridge was constructed in KwaMhlanga Township, Mpumalanga, to provide a safe passage over a dam’s overflow section. The bridge is a 20.47-meter-long, one-span reinforced concrete structure with a 1.4-meter-wide walkway. It features a deck made of in-situ cast reinforced concrete beams and includes SANRAL approved steel handrails. The bridge is accessible via paved ramps with erosion protection provided by stone pitching. This improved pedestrian connectivity and safety in the area.
